BETA: Create a Field Report
A field report documents a single site visit in the Newforma Konekt mobile app. It records the visit’s date and times, location, site conditions, author, and attendees.
Creating the field report is the first step of the field report workflow. After a field report is created, you add observations to it, review it, and finalize it into a PDF report. For the full sequence, see Field Reports Overview.
Step 1: Open the Field Reports Activity Center
To open the Field reports activity center:
- In the Newforma Konekt mobile app, select your hub and project.
- Tap the menu icon.
- Tap Field reports.
The field reports list opens, which shows the field reports in the project you have access to.
Step 2: Enter the Field Report Details
The details of a field report describe the site visit. Title and author are required. All other fields are optional and can be filled in later.
To enter the field report details:
- In the field reports list, tap the blue + button.
- Enter a title.
- Optional: enter a summary of the visit.
- Optional: enter the site location as an address or as GPS coordinates. To fill in either one automatically from your device, tap Use my location. If your device asks for location access, allow it.
- Optional: enter the temperature, and select Celsius or Fahrenheit. The app remembers the unit you select for your next field report.
- Optional: select a weather option.
- Check the status. It defaults to Draft. You can also select In review or Reviewed. Finalized isn’t available, because a field report is finalized through a separate action once its content is complete.
- Check the date. It defaults to today. You can select any date, including a future date.
- Optional: enter the start time and the end time of the site visit.
- Check the author. It defaults to you. To assign the field report to someone else, select another project member. Only project members with the Admin or Editor role can be selected as the author.
- Optional: add attendees. Search for and select project members from a list, or type any name in manually.
Step 3 (Optional): Add Attendees to the Field Report
Attendees are the people present during the site visit. They’re added on the same form as the field report details, before the field report is created. A field report can have several attendees or none.
To add attendees:
- On the field report form, tap Attendees.
- Search for and select project members from the list, or type any name manually.
If you type in the name of someone outside the project, that person can’t access the field report. Project members with the Reviewer role can only view a field report if they’re added as attendees.
The author and the attendees are not notified when they’re added to a field report.
Step 4 (Optional): Add a Notes to the Field Report
A note is free-form text added to the field report. It’s added on the same form as the field report details, before the field report is created.
To add notes:
- On the field report form, tap Notes.
- Enter your notes.
Step 5 (Optional): Add Attachments to the Field Report
Attachments added while creating a field report belong to the field report as a whole, not to a single observation. They’re added on the same form as the field report details, before the field report is created. Attachments can also be added after the field report is created.
To add attachments:
- On the field report form, tap Attachments.
- Take a photo or select a file from your device.
Every file is scanned for malware when uploaded. Flagged files are quarantined.
Step 5: Save the New Field Report
To save the new field report, tap Create.
The field report opens and gets a report number automatically, for example 21. It appears in the field reports list under that number, with the status you selected. You can now add observations to it.
Example of a Completed Field Report

- Weather: Sunny
- Status: Draft

- Start time and end time: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM
- Author: The project member leading the visit
- Attendees: Two project members, plus the framing subcontractor’s site lead, added by typed name
