The Change management activity center supports configurable item numbering, allowing you to automate how change management items are incrementally numbered at creation. Numbering is configured separately for each item type.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings

In the Change management activity center, open Settings and select the Numbering tab. You will see one section:

  • Item numbering

Step 2: Configure Item Numbering

The Item numbering section contains a tab for each item type:

  • SI
  • CCD
  • PR
  • CP

Each tab is configured independently, meaning you can set different numbering rules for each item type.

Select a tab and choose one of the following rules:

  • Auto-increment: Items are assigned sequential numbers at creation. Configure the number of digits, starting number, and an optional prefix. A prefix is suggested by default based on the item type and can be customized with any combination of characters (e.g., SI 01).
  • Manual entry: The Number field in the Create change item modal must be filled in manually each time an item is created.

Repeat for each item type as needed.

Select Save changes.

How Auto-Increment Rules Affect the Create Change Item Modal

When an auto-increment rule is active, the Number field in the Create change item modal shows “Auto”. The field accepts any combination of characters and can be overridden at any time.

Each item type maintains its own independent counter.
