Work with Egnyte Files and Folders in Newforma Konekt
Once a Newforma Konekt project is connected to Egnyte, the connected Egnyte files and folders appear in the project’s Files activity center alongside your other file sources. From there, you can:
- Preview, share, search, download, upload, move, and delete files.
- Open file and folder details and view their versions and history.
- Move or create folders.
Newforma Konekt works on these files directly in Egnyte and does not maintain a separate copy, so any action you take applies to the files in Egnyte.
Preview an Egnyte File
Previewing displays the contents of an Egnyte file in Newforma Konekt without downloading it.
To preview an Egnyte file in the Files activity center:
- Right-click the file.
- Select Preview file.
The contents of the file are displayed on your screen. You can also left-click the file to preview it.
Only PDF files and images can be previewed.

To share an Egnyte file or folder:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file or folder.
- Select Share.
- In the modal that opens, select the project users to share the item with.

The shared item appears in the Sharing center.
To share multiple items at once, select the checkbox to the left of each item, then click the Share icon at the top of the activity center.

Download an Egnyte File
Downloading saves a copy of an Egnyte file to your local device.
To download an Egnyte file:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file.
- Select Download.
One file can be downloaded at a time.
Open the Details of an Egnyte File or Folder
The details panel displays the properties of an Egnyte file or folder, such as its size and version.
To open the details of an Egnyte file or folder:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file or folder.
- Select Open details.
For a file, the side panel displays:
- Name
- Type
- Size

The side panel also contains a Versions tab and a History tab.
The version shown for a file follows the version settings configured in Egnyte.
For a folder, the side panel displays:
- Name
- Size
- Created date
- Latest updated date
The side panel for a folder contains a History tab. Folders are not versioned, so no Versions tab is available.
View the Versions of an Egnyte File
The Versions tab lists the versions of an Egnyte file, with a timestamp for each one. A new version is recorded when a file is uploaded to a folder that already contains a file with the same name.
To view the versions of an Egnyte file:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file.
- Select Open details.
- In the side panel that opens, select the Versions tab.
The versions of the file are listed with the timestamp of each.
View the History of an Egnyte File or Folder
The history of an Egnyte file or folder lists the changes made to it through the Egnyte integration in Newforma Konekt, including who made each change.
To view the history of an Egnyte file or folder:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file or folder.
- Select Open details.
- In the side panel that opens, select the History tab.
The changes made to the item are displayed. Changes made directly in Egnyte are not recorded here.
Upload a File to an Egnyte Folder
Uploading adds a file from your local device to a connected Egnyte folder. The file is written directly to Egnyte.
To upload a file to an Egnyte folder:
- In the Files activity center, navigate to the Egnyte folder.
- Select Upload in the top-right corner.
- In the modal that opens, browse for the file or drag and drop it.
- Select Upload.
If the folder already contains a file with the same name, the uploaded file replaces the existing file. The Version field for the file updates, and the replacement is recorded in the Versions tab of the file’s details panel. To upload a file without replacing an existing one, give it a different name before uploading.
An upload is limited to 100 files or 10 GB, whichever limit is reached first. If your selection exceeds either limit, split it into smaller uploads.
Uploaded files under 200 MB are scanned for malware. Larger files are not scanned.
Move an Egnyte File or Folder
Moving a file or folder relocates it within your Egnyte file structure. Moving a folder moves its contents with it.
To move an Egnyte file or folder:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file or folder.
- Select Move to.
- In the modal that opens, select the destination folder from the folder tree.
- Select Save.
The item is moved to the selected folder. One item can be moved at a time.
Your Egnyte permissions determine where you can move an item. If the item is not moved, check your permissions for the destination folder in Egnyte.
Delete an Egnyte File
Deleting a file removes it from your Egnyte file structure.
To delete an Egnyte file:
- In the Files activity center, right-click the file.
- Select Delete.
- In the modal that opens, select Delete.
The file is removed from the folder. One file can be deleted at a time.
Folders cannot be deleted from Newforma Konekt.
Your Egnyte permissions determine which files you can delete. If the file is not deleted, check your permissions for that file in Egnyte.

Creating a folder adds it to your Egnyte file structure.
To create a folder in Egnyte from Newforma Konekt:
- In the Files activity center, navigate to the location for the new folder.
- Select New folder in the top-left corner.
- Enter a name for the folder.
- Select Create.
The new folder is available in the Egnyte location you selected.
Your Egnyte permissions determine where you can create a folder. If New folder is unavailable in a location, or if the folder is not created, check your permissions for that location in Egnyte.
