Orthographic vs. Perspective

When creating issues in different environments, you often work in a variety of 3D view states. In Navisworks, users commonly work in a perspective view. This allows them to traverse inside the building to create issues. In Revit, users can view issues created in Navisworks in perspective, but it is much easier to work in an orthographic view, in which all components appear the same size (see Revit’s article About 3D Views).

When issues are created in Navisworks, as the issue creator, it is best practice to select the elements in question as this relates the objects to the issue. As a Revit user, if an issue was created in a perspective view without related elements, you can select elements that are live in your project and use a section box and view the same issue in an orthographic state (see Retrieving Newforma Konekt Perspective View Issues in Revit).

When issues are created in Revit, users typically create them in a 3D view, a plan view, or a section. These view states can easily be retrieved in other software environments with the help of section planes.
