AVEVA E3D Design integration with Newforma Konekt, developed by Ingeloop, allows you to create and edit topics in AVEVA E3D Design using Ingeloop’s BCFNode tool, and automatically sync with Newforma Konekt.

In this article, you’ll learn how to use the BCFNode panel in AVEVA E3D Design to connect to Newforma Konekt and create topics.

Things to know

Here are some important points before you get started.

  • The BCFNode plugin is available in AVEVA E3D2 and E3D3. BCFNode supports BCF 2.0, BCF 2.1, and BCF 3.0. Newforma Konekt does not support BCF 3.0 for now.
  • Available topic fields include: Title, Type, Priority, Status, Description, Assigned to, Due date, and Labels (disciplines).

Connect to Newforma Konekt

To connect to the Newforma Konekt BCF server, proceed as follows.

  1. If not already done, install the BCFNode plugin. The plugin can be installed anywhere, for example in a shared directory.
  2. In AVEVA E3D Design, under the INGELOOP tab, click Open Interface to open BCFNode.
  3. In the BCFNode panel, click Login to connect to a Newforma Konekt project.
  4. In the window that appears, select the Newforma Konekt platform and click Ok.
  5. Then, select the region in which your Newforma Konekt hub is located. You can find the information in the Hub Settings.
  6. A browser tab will open where you’ll need to sign in to authorize Newforma Konekt connector for BCFNode by Ingeloop to access Newforma Konekt on your behalf.
  7. Back in AVEVA E3D Design, select the desired project and click Ok.

Issue creation overview

In the BCFNode side panel, you’ll see all the BCF data of your project. To create a topic, watch this short video or follow the steps below.

  1. In the BCFNode panel, click the + icon at the top of the topic list.
  2. In the Create new topic window, complete the fields as required. You can also add viewpoints, either from the current 3D view or from an image file.
  3. When you’re done, click Create. The topic will appear in the list and automatically sync with Newforma Konekt.

You can also edit an existing topic by opening it and clicking the pencil icon. Use the search and filters options if needed to find the topic to edit.
